Borussia Dortmund has extended the contract of the 18-year-old defender Almugera Kabar until June 30, 2028. The young German U17 World and European Champion has put pen to paper to secure his future with the club.
Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl said of the agreement: “We are very happy to continue our journey with Almugera. He has shown tremendous potential as a young player who has already begun his career with the youth academy. He brings a lot to the table physically, technically, and character-wise. We will also be working together to promote his development step by step.”
He joined Borussia Dortmund‘s youth setup in 2019 from Hammer SpVg. He rose through all youth levels and made his professional debut in October 2024. He has since played four Bundesliga games. Kabar has made five appearances for Dortmund’s U23 side in the 3. Liga, and played in four UEFA Youth League fixtures for the U19s.
On his new contract, Kabar added, “I am happy to be part of Borussia Dortmund and to take my next steps here. I want to keep progressing, work on my skills, and be successful with this great club.”
Key Achievements of Almugera Kabar
Kabar started his career in Sauerland, moving from SV Hüsten 09 to Hammer SpVg. He signed with Borussia Dortmund a little more than a week after his 13th birthday. He captained the U19 team in 2023/24, where he made 22 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist. Awesome displays saw him integrated into the first-team group in the summer of 2024.
Kabar has had a notable success with Germany’s youth teams internationally. He also appeared for the U17 side that won both the UEFA European Under-17 Championship and the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2023. In the European Championship semifinal against Poland, he registered a goal and an assist.
Kabar’s dedication to Borussia Dortmund comes after his name was reportedly linked with several leading European clubs, such as AC Milan and FC Barcelona. The young defender chose to continue developing himself in a BVB shirt and hopes that in the next few years, he will become a game-winning player.
