Juventus secured a 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona on Monday at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, keeping their Serie A title hopes alive.
The match began with Juventus dominating possession, creating numerous chances. However, Verona’s goalkeeper, Lorenzo Montipò, delivered an outstanding performance, making multiple saves to keep the score level. He denied efforts from Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli, frustrating the home side.
In the first half, Juventus had a goal disallowed. Weston McKennie headed the ball into the net, but the referee ruled it out due to a foul on Montipò.
Verona thought they had taken the lead in first-half stoppage time when Tomas Suslov scored from distance. However, the goal was disallowed for offside in the build-up, keeping the score at 0-0.
Juventus continued to press in the second half. Their persistence paid off in the 72nd minute when Thuram scored from around the penalty spot, finally beating Montipò.
Teun Koopmeiners sealed the victory in the 90th minute. He struck from a tight angle, doubling Juventus’ lead and securing all three points.
This win marks Juventus’ fifth consecutive league victory. They now sit fourth in the standings with 52 points, six points behind leaders Inter Milan. Verona remains 14th, four points above the relegation zone.
Juventus will look to maintain their momentum in the upcoming fixtures as they continue their pursuit of the Serie A title.
